Default Named color palettes for Xara applications

Some of you may remember that Wikipedia has an article with a large list of colors.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colors

The list contains named colors that are used in web pages, Crayola Crayons, University/College named colors, and some Internationally named colors.

A palette with all those named colors could be very handy, wouldn't it?

How about a palette of all those colors defined in CMYK, or RGB, or HSV?

Better yet, palettes of all those named colors for each of those color spaces?

How about FREE palettes of those named colors for those color spaces?

Simply go to the Xara Xone Shareware Page and download the WikiColors.zip file.

Unzip the three .jcw files and put them in the Palettes folder of your Xara installation. That will be in the Program Files folder on your machine. The next time you start your Xara application the palettes will be in your Color Gallery.

With all those colors, having a palette show in the Color Line can make things difficult to work with. May I recommend adding only the colors you plan to work with within a project. See the next image.

    Glad to do it Steve.

I just noticed they have added some more colours since I started work on the palettes.

    Well done. Worth a sticky.

just one thing.... converting from web, HSV/RGB/LAB/Pantone to CMYK happens via some profile... I mean, in Xara values are one, in Corel other, in Illustrator are third...... especially in CMYK values difference is very possible....

    Hi Miro,

The attached zip file contains the CMYK palette using an .icc profile from the European Color Initiative (ECI). http://www.eci.org

You can download the eci_offset_2009.zip file from http://www.eci.org/doku.php?id=en:downloads

Their documentation recommends using the ISOcoated_v2_300_eci.icc profile if the intended output device is not known at the time of palette creation.

Please note that the ISO palette is not really intended for use for your drawings. It is simply an exercise in the concept of using a profile.

Thanks so much for your hard work on this. It also helped me understand even more the great feature set in Xara.

    Cheers

Hi Phil, a quadrangle is what we in the US call a rectangle although it could also be a square.
