I need 12 photos on my website, and the frames that I am choosing has only 4 frames so when I copy them to make up the 12 I add photo number 5 in and it changes no 1 as well? How do I stop this and make each frame independent?

The simplest way is to select all of the thumbnail photos on the page, drag a selection rectangle around the thumbnails with the Selector Tool (the arrow pointer).
Switch to the Fill Tool (F5)
From the drop down list of Fill Types on the upper left side of the Infobar, select Flat.
This changes all the bitmaps to flat filled rectangles. Now you can hold down the Shift key and drag and drop photos from the Bitmap Gallery, your desktop, or Windows Explorer onto the rectangles.

Or ... hold ctrl+shift while drag'n'dropping a new photo to a copied 'frame'. Xara then asks if you want to replace all (repeated) or just the one you aimed at

Yeah, you are right John. But for a whole bunch of photos that gets to be a real drag. That's why I suggested changing all the existing photos to flat filled rectangles. Then you don't have to Ctrl drag and drop and answer the same question over and over and over and...
