Thank you HayTay! It opened for me! Some of the Live Effects are missing, but it's workable for me! You are awesome!

You are most welcome, Cheryl. I do have my moments and I'm glad I could help you.
Be sure to show us the finished drawing/card,

I can't believe it, but it happened again! Another XAR file that I just created yesterday after working for hours on a logo for a client and now I can't open the file in Xara Xtreme 4. Here is the error message: Failed to read XAR file
(Failed to handle record 356 4126) But what does it mean and why is this happening? This is the second time this has happened and it never happened until about a month or so ago.
Cheryl are you using many Live Effects?
Did you obtain a new Live Effect plug-in about the time you noticed this problem?

Hi Cheryl,
The error message you have there is indicating a problem with a live effect (well, actually, 4126 is a locked effect but they are much the same). For some reason the type of effect is saved but the data that defines the effect is not and this, unfortunately, causes older versions to fail to load the file. Version 6 should again be able to successfully load the file where the offending effect will be replaced by a group and labelled with a special name so that it can be found and repaired.
This bug with the saving of effects has been present for a long time as we have not been able to reproduce it reliably so any other information you can give about changes to your machine or your method of working around the time it started (e.g. Bills question above) could be very helpful.
If you would like your file repaired as HayTay did with the other one then either attach it here, email it to someone you know has version 6 or submit a support ticket to Xara with the file attached and I will try to hurry it through the system.
Thanks,
Gerry
