don't use jpeg
use png, or psd even
jpeg does not support transparency
EDIT = PS make sure you hide/delete any background layer and have your drawing on a seperate layer before you save

Try changing the blend mode to Multiply.

right save your file as a .png format. it will give you transparent background.
yes right simple save your file as png.
Select>Color Range - Select: Highlights - Click OK
If background layer, unlock by dragging lock icon in the layer panel to the trash can
hit delete key
All the white should now be transparent
