    Default watermarking photos with xara

    hi guys
i like to add jpegs and print-outs of my work to my online/paper portfolio. however, when i'm creating these portfolio entries - i'm sure i'm missing a few steps about xaraz functionality.

for example, if i have 10 photos, all the same size and want to add my logo to these photos, in the EXACT same spot on each photo, i am currently doing this manually but never getting it 100% in the same place each time.

is there a way i can use layers to do this more accurately and more efficiently, but i'm thinking i'll need 10 layers and then an eleventh layer for my logo?

    can anyone help?
    best regards
    HH

Your subject has nothing to do with your question.

I am not sure you can automate this process unless all of your photos are the same size.

On the off chance they are the same size, center all your photos. Place your logo in the desired position.

Export the top photo. Delete it or send it to the back. The logo is now in the same place on the next photo. Export and delete.

Yes Xara is ideal for a few photos, but when it comes to many then it's a little labour intensive.
Better to use a small freeware app to batch watermark your selected folder of images.

I have done this in the past by placing the desired watermark in position, say near the bottom left corner of a photo. Then draw an empty filled rectangle and align it (CTRL+SHIFT+L) to the bottom left corner of your photo. Now group just the empty rectangle and your watermark and whenever you want to watermark another photo, simply use the align dialog box again to align the group and the new photo bottom left.

This will give you a consistently placed watermark (same distance from bottom and left side of your photo) regardless of any differences in sizes between your photos... maybe you have portrait and landscape images for example.

If you're doing more than one or two watermarkings here and there, or more than a couple of dozen at a time, unless you're very quick with keyboard shortcuts in Xara, it's probably going to be quicker to use a specialised watermarking utility: there are many and they are discussed here quite often so a search will turn some up.
