X Not opening

Any ideas as to why XWD6 will no longer open? The program files are where they should be but clicking the icon results in the attached message. I've uninstalled, clean reinstalled (online), with any antiV or other programs disabled and still come up with this error. It won't allow for "repair" because it can't find the .msi file.

"abnormal program termination"

Has nobody encountered this error message? Anyone throw out an idea of where to begin looking (other than X support)?

I thought I responded to this post, but I do not see my response.

I have asked Xara to have a look and post a response and/or suggestions.

Please check back middle of next week as it sometimes takes a few days to get a response.

Thanks for your reply Gary. In the meantime I'll download XWD6 to a different comp to see if it will open. Does this uninstall/install procedure max out at some point thereby shutting me down if & when the program runs properly?

Hi which operating system are you working on please?

Please can you try applying Service pack 3 of MSXML 4 from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...f-9e139e6819c0

Upon completion, try running the program again and see whether this resolves the problem

No I did not run SP yet. I just returned from meetings and had this message from XARA support awaiting me so I figured I'd give their suggestion a go first. Do you think the SP should be applied even if their method works?

From XARA support: First of all could you uninstall Web Designer from your computer, then restart your PC.

Then, download the msxml.msi file and save it to your desktop from the Microsft support site below, then double click that file to run it.

Once installed, please re-download the installer for Web Designer from the link below and install it making sure that all security based applications are disabled prior to installing
