I had something similar and taking a guess it was resizing the box for the letters and not the actual font size. For a test try just Grouping the text item by itself (this turns it into a graphic) and do a preview and see if it fixes the issue.
Worked for me the past
Cheers
Thanks for that idea, I did try your suggestion but it did not work for this.
I also tried:
Select text only> group (to self) = no change
Select text and rectangle box beloew text> group = no change
I had to convert the text to curves.

Glad you got it sorted out. I'll have to add convert text to curve to the possible fixes list
It strikes me that the font you are using in your upper image is roughly 12.78pt. That is an illegal font size in HTML/CSS so Xara has no option but to round it up, hence the apparent aberration in the lower image. In order to keep it WYSIWYG, consider changing that font to 12pt or 13pt and, if you need to fill a certain space, change the tracking. It's always better to stick to legal HTML font sizes than to convert your text to curves because:
- your text remains editable in the XAR file
- the text can be indexed by the search engines
- the text can be copied and pasted by users/customers
This incidentally holds fast for the vast majority of text you insert into your Xara-created pages unless you are not bothered by SEO, accessibility or usability. There are very few text items you should convert to images if you want to be properly seen.
Hope it helps

Great info! thanks i'll try the point size (i bet that is the issue) and that will help with a text justification problem i ran into.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
That also did not work.
I tried Bold and regular:
12pt no tracking
13pt no tracking
18 (this is the size it needs to be) -.3 tracking
Remove softgroup (even though it was never set)
Ungroup
Wireframe mode (to make sure there are no shapes affecting)
none of these worked. Something is pushing the text to the right.
It my be the devil.

If you've streched the text horizontally you can end up with that kind of result in the preview. There's an aspect ratio % in the text tool bar, try changing it back to 100 if it's not already 100.
Post your .xar file otherwise it's all guesswork here.
Looking at the text, one looks a more condensed font than the other. Double check that the aspect ratio is standard, and not stretched.
