    Default JPG compression ?

    Hi,
I use PhotoPaint X3 for photo editing.I have a question about saving jpg's?
In the exprt section I have 3 versions of JPG to save to, I select plain jane JPG but I am given the option of the Algorithm to use 4.2.2 or 4.4.4 I believe what is the difference in quality given the same compression ratio of '0'?
    Hope this request is understood.

    Hi Jim,

I had never taken notice of that option before. Put I haven't used Photo-Paint for a long time.

The attached image shows what the Photo-Paint help provides for those two subformat options.

I don't know of any other program that supports an option of subformats for jpg images.

If creating a smaller file size is essential, choose the 4.2.2, if file size isn't import than use the 4.4.4.

I've tried using both and find VERY little difference in the quality of the images. I'd go with saving file size.
