    Default Moving text (scrolling down)

    Hey guys,

I'm creating a site which has a news box on the bottom of the homepage. I'd like to create it so the text is continuously scrolling down automatically. Can I create this in html or do I need something fancier to achieve this?

    Thanks

You'll need to use javascript/DHTML or create a SWF to embed into your HTML to create that kind effect.

    Google "Flash Text Scroller"

Very similar to the thread Scrolling and then it is just a matter of using an I frame and javascript to control the look and speed. Problem with I frames that they do not display well in all browsers.
    Design is thinking made visual.

Follow THIS link. You will find the code for what you need.

My personal suggestion is, if you have much news updated constantly use external file (frames), it will be easier to update.

Availor gave me a great tip (listed above) and I used IFRAME scroller to do my news box It's now up and running, however, if I put hyperlinks within the news text, on clicking them it tries to open the linked page within the scrolling box frame!! How do I change this to open in a new page?

    Thanks

    Instead of using target"_self"
    use "_top" or "_parent"

Haakoo whereabouts do I place this? Is it within the hyperlink coding somewhere or can I set a general rule?
    Thanks

Oh please ignore me, Dreamweaver gives me a drop down box to select what I want when I'm in a hyperlink! Thanks anyway for your time

You can create such a thing in Xara Xtreme Pro:

"Intbel" ... "Can't" is not an option.

Compliance is futile. Resistance is futile. Just do your own thing an' ignore 'em.
