    Default sitemap.xml

a SEO scan shows that I have no SiteMap, and provides an XML file. I hate to phrase it this way, but can anyone tell me where to stick it ? I'm using Web Designer 6

Place it in your website root folder.

Thank you for very politely telling me where to stick it...you are a gentleman and a scholar...Not necessarily in that order.

    Thanks again

    Hi,

Dont want to appear to dumb, but here goes.

    - When you say 'root folder', is that where I keep all the folders on the host, so I can upload it with Filezilla. Or is that somewhere on Xara?

    - Also do I need to set Xara to do something so google etc know I have a sitmap?

    - Using xml-sitemaps.com - Do I download a .xml, .html, .txt ?

    All a bit confusing!!

Hope that wasnt tooo vague a set of questions?!

Root folder is the folder in which the index.htm(l) and index_html_files folder go. The root folder referred to is on your web host's servers.

Also do I need to set Xara to do something so google etc know I have a sitmap?

    - Using xml-sitemaps.com - Do I download a .xml, .html, .txt ?
All of this will become very clear and very simple in the next day or so.

It has, but your tip helped thank you.
I have now uploaded the sitemap.
What I can't do now is get Google to verify.
I have copied the code from the 'webmaster central' into Page-Tracker Code, is that the right place??
As I can't figure anwhere else to stick it!!

quickest and easiest way to verify to google is to upload the verification file (download this from google) to your server into the same folder as your index.htm file
