    Default FTP settings

    Hi,
I have for the past year been using XWD5 and apart from an initial FTP settings problem, all as been fine.
I recently upgraded to version 6, which is great by the way, and again I am having FTP problems. It just will not accept my FTP login password.

    I have ran XaReg and Debug View, the results are as follows;

00000147 130.01295471 [3156] Keep running, no action from the pipe
    00000148 131.71452332 [4836] Active connect failed err = 0x00002eee 12014
00000149 131.71475220 [4836] Error message is 'The password was not allowed '
    00000150 131.71482849 [4836] AddError('The password was not allowed ')
    00000151 131.88441467 [4836] In background FTP thread
    00000152 132.09010315 [4836] Active connect failed err = 0x00002eee 12014
00000153 132.09033203 [4836] Error message is 'The password was not allowed '
    00000154 132.09034729 [4836] AddError('The password was not allowed ')
00000155 132.09039307 [4836] FTP thread: Failed to open FTP connection
    00000156 132.09042358 [4836] Leaving background FTP thread
00000157 135.01040649 [3156] Keep running, no action from the pipe

I am using windows7 and coincidently my XWD v5 continues to publish ok.

    Hope you can help
    Regards,
    John

Have you changed your host ? Changed anything server side ?

I used to get Bad Password so I changed my ftp passward again even though I knew it was ok and since then its been ok.
For me it was nothing to do with Xara

Generally, you should not have to adjust the publishing settings unless:
    - You have changed your password for the account
    - Your host moved the account to a different server (case sensitive, address change, etc) and you are trying to access the old server.
    - Your host changed the ftp settings for security, etc.
    - Your host changed the folder layout and now requires different ftp folder
    - You move to another host.
    - Your site has been hacked (unlikely)

Have you set the v6 program as a trusted program in your firewall? Maybe it is being blocked since v5 can still connect.

Check your CapS. Even if your password is correct, if the case is not you may not be able to connect.

    WD6 Re: FTP settings

    Hi Guys,
Many thanks for your input. I am always saying, at work, keep it simple and don't get too technical. I should take my own advice. I forgot that I had changed my FTP password by one digit
    Publishing is now working

By the way the v6 upgrade is well worth the money and is a job done by the Xara team.

    Best wishes,

    John
