Those white squares are hard to see Denis.

If they are hard to see, how do you know they are there, aha.
And now I am being distracted by that stupid grey balls effect
that is in between those squares.(yes I can see those, and no,
not those 3D thingies you claim are really there (hah, I won`t fall for that
joke, I aint stupid )

Here's my take on Gary's wonderful Rubik's Cube tutorial for this month. I used the bevel tool on all of the colored vinyl stickers to give them a touch of depth, and, since I didn't really like the reflection of the cube, I decided to add a shadow instead. I placed my Rubik's Cube on a table in front of a wall with patterned wallpaper to give the cube and its shadow someplace to sit.
Many years ago I used to be able to solve these things in less than 2 minutes. If I tried, I'm fairly sure that I couldn't solve one now in less than 2 hours. I don't know what everyone else did when the stickers fell off but at our school we used to mask off the block then paint it back using one of the girl's fingernail polish. This semi-permanently replaced the failing, and usually lost, sticker. We also used to take the cubes apart and apply a touch of petroleum jelly to the inner workings to make the pieces spin more freely. I know, I know, what a nerd. Ahhh, those were the days.
Thanks, as always, for such fantastic tutorials,
Harry
.
Well, Harry, you would never solve this one in any time without replacing stickers.
The yellow-red corner piece is actually a yellow-green-red. And the yellow-green as depicted is also a yellow-green-red.
So who's the nerd now?
John.
John, you're right, of course. Actually, it's not just those corner pieces, all of the top stickers are off. The sticker configuration is correct but someone must have given the top a 90° clockwise twist right before I applied the default perspective then twisted it back when I wasn't looking. That's my story and I'm 'sticking' to it.
Actually, I just incorrectly applied the top stickers default perspective at a 90° rotation. I was so concerned about getting the stickers aligned with the top I didn't pay any attention to the color alignment. Good catch.
Here's a corrected version...
.
I don`t mind the colorstickers, but that is a very realistic looking
rubiks cube, very wel done.
(and I forgot to thank Gary in my former posts for his excellent
tutorials, in which he always manages to show something I still
didn`t know about xara Xtreme. And I have to thank the ones
who make the program ofcourse and...(oh shut up, it aint the bloody Oscars )

Thanks, Denis. My interpretation of Gary's tutorial is more the way I remember the Rubik's Cubes looking. It's been a while since I've seen one, though. I've still got a few packed away in a box somewhere that will probably never again see the light of day.
