hi Forum members!
Is anyone tempted to buy the newly released iPad from Apple and carry it around with you? Or have you been in San Franzisco for the intro?

I would rather buy two netbooks for the same amount of cash. And every one of those would be better than this thing in almost every aspect.
John.
I'm with John on this one.
My current laptop does everything better than the iPad will, and with no annoying smudgy finger prints on the screen!
And do we need to create even more eventual e-waste when what we already have will do just fine?
"More" isn't always better, sometimes it is just more.
Enough is enough. ( In my opinion )

Artist-wise,
Ipad has nothing of value.
Its just an oversized iPhone
You want something of artist-value, you would be better off with a Cintiq.
At least you can read off the iPad, Kindels and Sony readers hurt my eyeballs.
Tablet pcs have been around for so long, the manufacturers are looking for new revenue streams and keep bringing them out every couple of years but no one buys them because there simply is no use for them to the general public. The ipad is just a very large iphone/itouch.
Having said that there will always be people who buy it just because it's from apple.
Kash
Ipad doesn't support flash? How rude.

Yes prices keeps us from buying quality gear. The iPad seem more like a toy. I believe that one phone company has already offered to carry 3G for $15 USD doing 25MB but for $30 p.m. unlimited. That would make it really appealing! We will have to wait and see.
The iPad has a number of flaws, but in general pads like that are going to be BIG. It's not of value for general computing use but there are a load of niche uses for such a device and it will be a hit with commuters.
