Egg, I think it's about removing the line to give the 3D sides the same colour as the individual jigsaw pieces.
Here's my slant on it...I used AV Bros Puzzle Pro 2 to create a template, then hand traced all 4 of them and with 4 instances of the photo, used each piece of the puzzle as a clip for each part of the photo.
A bit tedious if it was going to be a 1,000 piece puzzle, though.

Hi,
If you do a search you can find a font type called "Puzzle' and one I got came with instructions as to the piece shape as related to each key. then you can assemble you own Puzzle with an image as the fill.
Thaye can be concerted to shapes and manipulated ix xteme qhite easily.
