Xara Xtreme 5 layer question

Is there anyway with Xara Xtreme 5 or Xara Web Designer to auto insert layer with evry obeject import or drawed on stage ?

Not exactly but you can create that effect by:

1) Creating a new layer (this is optional but you said you wanted a new layer) and selecting it (or an existing layer that you want things on)
2) Selecting all by pressing Ctrl+A
3) Grouping everything by pressing Ctrl+G
4) Ungrouping everything by pressing Ctrl+U

I don't have the ability to test this on my work laptop, but from what I understand, grouping items from various layers brings them to the current layer. And ungrouping them again should not change the layer that they are then on.

No it does not work!
I get tired of insert menualy every layers.
Serif DrawPlus auto insert every object on new layer for drawn or imported object, I wish I could do that with xara too. I am not aware of any setting for this on xara preferences.

are you wanting to import a layered file, for example?

ok - I may still be misunderstanding....

but your 'sub layers' do not look too different to what you see in xtreme

to select them all click on one, hold shift, and click on another - all those in between will be selected as well....


if however you mean 'nested layers' - that is layers that hold more than one object, within other layers - no, xtreme does not do that [maybe ver 6?]

Yes I agree my 'sub layers' do not look too different to what you see in xtreme, but in xtreme you add layer manually by pressing add new layer, whereas DrawPlus it adds those sub layer automatically.

Xtreme adds all object in single sub_layer if we do not press add new layer.

My question is now, is there any way in Xtreme preferences that those objects will be added into separate layer automatically?

xtreme adds new objects to the current layer

there is no option that I am aware of to tell it to create each new object in a new layer every time

thinking about it - that could be useful in certain circumstances

whereas DrawPlus it adds those sub layer automatically.

From your flash video and Steve's comparison screenshots, I see no difference.
DP has Layer 1 and new shapes are automatically added to the layer as 'objects' (you are calling them sub layers) in that layer.

The same thing happens in Xtreme.
