    Default Ruffled feathers

Went outside first thing this morning and noticed a galah which I think was a little worse for wear, sitting on my clothes line.
    Opportune photography!

    Opportunistic indeed. Well caught Rupert.
Maybe he's just keeping himself warm in that cold southern air?

    Steve,
You are right about the temp. You wouldn't think we were in the same country. Last night was quite good though. It only went down to 8 degrees - mild night!
    He has flown off now.

That is a very nice photo and a very beautiful bird. Are these native birds to your area ? we have nothing like that here in Arizona.

These birds are everywhere in Australia. Sometimes in mobs of 100s. On occasions I have seen them in mobs of 1000s, paricularly near grain growing areas. Usually, like birds of the wild, you cant get that close. There are a number of possibilities which allowed me to get that close - he was a young bird (looked like it) but really out of season, he was sick, or he was someones pet which had escaped. They do make good pets.
They nest in the hollows of trees.
