I'm going insane with a simple logo. pls help

Guys, I wanna say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has taken the time and effort to talk me through this.

Unfortunatly I had to leave work after my last post and couldnt continue.

I did try and figure it out at home.
I have ended up with this-



Now, your gonna hate me for how I got to this....

I couldnt continue in Xtreme as I didnt have it on my laptop. But as I was deleting the default logo in Xara3D I caught the keyboard at typed the letter "O" which gave me a large circle. (see where i'm going with this...)

I then made a "R" at a slightly smaller size and changed the position to inside the "O"



Not the way it should be done. But, done all the same.


I'm going to run through the other instructions tomorrow as I would like to learn how to do this, as what I have created isnt 100% what I was after. Its just close.

If I can or cant do it via the instructions tomorrow, I will let you know.

In fact, all you have to do in Xara 3D is type 0174 in the Numpad with the Alt Key pressed; ®. It's that easy!

Now you've got time to get acquainted with both Xtreme and graphics without all the frenzy.

BTW, on the XaraXone (www.xaraxone.com), look for the workbooks, especially those for newbies. When you're ready, you can move on to the tutorials. Or mix 'em up. Either way, you'll get a great graphics education and have fun at the same time.

Well I wasnt in work today so couldnt try anything.

I FINALLY understand!!!
I have no idea why I didnt pick up on it earlier. I think having a day off cleared my head. I sat back and re-read this thread and just tried again. I got it on the second attempt!

Everyone that has posted in this thread has given lots of advice, and as I had never even heard of Xara or vectors a few days ago, I'm quiet proud that i've finally got my head around it and know how to produce the logo i'm looking for.

Obviously this isnt the final image. I was just drawing rough because i didnt want to spend ages doing the "R", only to find out I was doing the process wrong.
I just wanted to see if i was doing the steps correctly and if it would work in Xara3D afterwards. It did! The logo is for a nightclub. There is a image in the middle of what it looks like, so i'll copy that tomorrow (unless anyone knows if its an actual font?) and post my final results.

Wish I could do it all now, but its 1:30am so I need some sleep. I know its late, but I just had to come on and post this to you guys.
