MenuMaker is still available and there is an optional template pack for that program.

The Webstyle and MenuMaker templates are not directly compatible with Web Designer. The .wix files for Webstyle and MenuMaker templates contain the graphics and they can be opened by Web Designer. It takes some skill to use the .wix file images to make a working navbar when using them in Web Designer.

    Skill??? That leaves me out!!!

Maybe one of the "Xara types" will chime in with an "official" answer.

    Thanks Bill

Bring up all the buttons and then click on LOCK.
Then when you go around again the pictures appear.

Of course it does! I thought I'd done that before ... but it is getting on for 5 a.m. here - that's my excuse! Thanks for taking the time to extend it - following the logic of the layers is enlightening

I did a little further digging.... There are two additional file types (besides .wix) that are included in templates from WS and MM. "reverse engineering" the file formats would be the most difficult part, but once the formats were dedueced, it would be fairly trivial to write a program to take the three files in and output an XWD .web file.

Then anybody with licensed verions of those two products (and/or their template packs) could just convert them for easy XWD use. (No skill required)

I wish I had the "drive" to start it; getting all the file formats figured out can be daunting. I've done it before.....

    Hi Boo,

One of the two other file types (the .xgt) is simply a renamed .gif image used in the theme preview.

The other file (.xws) is a text file that contains a list of attributes used by Webstyle and/or MenuMaker when rendering the template.

The key file is the .wix file which is simply a text version of a .web file. Open the .wix files in Web Designer and assemble them into a navbar.

    See the attached image.

Aridzone, here's a naming convention I prefer to use when doing Flash creations. I believe it will work equally as well in XWD and perhaps even easier to follow than your suggested method.

Here's a XWD file using this convention. Button colours are yuck!

EDIT: I posted the wrong web file last night. Correct web now posted.

You are "pushing my buttons", Bill!!!

Further research may be in order (so many projects, so little time... sigh)

The problem with your method is that when you rename something like 3_6_4
it also changes other buttons that you don't want changed (see attached)
