    Default Transparent rounded rectangle

How do I get the rectangle to be transparent around the curved ends.

I have a long horizontal rectangle (like a button) that has rounded ends, when exported to a GIF format and using the transparent setting it still does not allow the background color show through around the outside of the curve.

    Hi Bill,

    Try the attached .xar file.

You image appears to be a screen grab that also has a non-rounded shape behind your button shape.

Works ok for me, Bill. Have you toggled the "make transparent background" option on?
Make sure you export it from a background of the same colour as the one against which it will be displayed, or you will see "jaggies" as shown on the right hand side of the button below.
Edit: I see Bill beat me to it.
    Saludos,
    Bob.

This is getting better and better. Frustration level is now approaching the level of PSD movie slicing run around I got previously.

Here is a gif of the web page output.

Bill can you attach your file so we can see exactly what you have to work with and how it can be improved.

Looking at screen shots doesn't show what is behind the problem.

    Thanks, Soquili.

I presume you mean the original .XAR file. It is in two parts and rendered using some CSS code.

The problem is you were using linear transparency instead of linear fill on the top shapes of your groups.

The transparency was allowing the background to show through and with gif transparency selected all instances of the background are made transparent.

Use a linear fill you can have the same colour as the background in the object but it will not be removed when gif transparency is selected during export.

There is a well known CSS technique called "Sliding doors" and I assume this is the reason why Bill is trying to export two graphics.

    • "CSS Sliding Door using only 1 image" is saying about this CSS technique: "Before I know about this technique, I was using different images for each of the button I needed in a navigation bar. I found that it is not user friendly and also need more CSS coding. Besides, it is increasing the processing time and bandwidth in loading a site." [source: http://kailoon.com/css-sliding-door-...only-1-image/]
    • The "Sliding Doors" CSS technique was introduced in 2003 by "A List Apart".
