Well, i am using photoshop cs2 and started working on a cd cover , i used 300 dpi and 16mg file system...
Everything looks great when the prject was done, then i wanted to make a jpeg or gif version of my project to put it on myspace, but the photoshop is not allowing me to save it as jpeg or gif....

    Welcome to TG Forums.

When you say PS isn't allowing you? What error message is PhotoShop showing you?

    thanks...
well, since i used 300 dpi for res and 16 bit file system, it allows me to save it only under either TIFF PSD , PING and couple other format...not GIF or JPEG

For use on the web I recommend using 96 dpi and 8 bit file type. Using 300 dpi and 16 bit are disabling the gif and jpg file types because they cannot support those settings.

You might want to try save as a copy and select .gif or .jpg.

I stopped upgrading Photoshop at CS so I'm not sure what options are available on CS2.

earlier i went to IMAGE SIZE and changed the res to 180 and 8bit, but when i uploaded on myspace , it looks weird...

Is there a Save for Web option in your File menu?

In Photoshop CS that option opens the image in Image Ready and has down sampled it so it can be saved as .gif, .jpg, png-8, and png-24.

The original is still in Photoshop and not affected by the changes.
