Hello,
There are basically few plugins that deal with bitmaps inside Xarax....
http://www.xaraxone.com/html/ss-emboss.html
Take a look at this link. You will find some more basic raster effects there.
I suppose some of the KPT effects will work with Xarax... Look in the xara.com site, there are some effects listed there.

John,
I have tried a number of these PSD filters on bitmaps in Xara X1 and keep getting this error message:
"The plug-in requires services not provided by this host."
How did you get them to work?
Don
You may need plugin.dll if it isn't in your system. I didn't think PS filters above V5.5 would work in Xara Rich
Hi don,
I do have PS7 loaded on my system would that be the difference? I am not absolutley positive each and every one of these will work with xara. I copied all the PS7 filers into a directory under xara, then pointed the plugins to that directory. The ones that loaded fine and did not crash xara I kept. I have used many of them but will not swear that all work.
Which ones do not work for you and I can verify that they do or do not work on my machine. Your list of "a number of these PSD filters" is not very descriptive and makes it hard for me to help you further with more info. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
Hi John,
I tried the following filters from you PSD list and got the same message I described previously.
Accented Edges, Angled Stokes, Chalk&Charcoal, Chrome, Colored Pencil, Craquelure, Glowing Edges, Grain, Graphic Pen, Mosaic Tiles, Neon Glow, Paint Daubes, Patchwork, Plastic Wrap, and Texturizer all with the extension .8bf. After trying 15 of 64 I ran out of time to spend on it.
After thinking about this issue I seem to recall reading that PSD filters past version 5 did not work with Xara X1. The search engine is down so I couldn't search the forum archives to find verification.
My Xara X1 filters work quite well so that is not a factor. Also the PSD filters gave an immediate error box when tested with a 32bit Xara rasterized image so I tested the filters with a 24 bit image as the box requested.

Hello
I have to say that I cannot get Xara in WinXP to use Photoshop 7 filters. It will use the KPT filters and others that conform to the protocol, but not all.
I can get it to use some Photoshop 4 filters under Win 98SE

Adobe changed the filters in version 6. From whaat I read, it was to make money of the developers. Many of the 5.5 filters work with Xara. Filters requiring selections, won't work. Being PS compatible doesn't mean filters will work in applications that can handle PS compatible filters. An example would be Super Blade Pro that works in PS and PSP. I looked at the free Flamingpear plugings, and some worked. Just got to try things. You still may need plugin.dll with Xara. Rich
