Xara Extreme 4.0 Locking Up

Has any one had any problems with Xara locking up? Other programs work and respond but Xara does not.
Does anyone have any suggestion?
I do not want to lose the graphics on the page that is open because it has not been saved yet.
Any help would be wonderful.

hi what were you doing when it locked?

have you checked the processes in windows task manager - is xtreme.exe using memory and processor resource

which OS are you using XP? Vista?

i will try to show you what is going on handrawn.
i am running Windows XP AMD 3500+ 2 GB Ram

Can you tell us exactly what you are doing in Xtreme when it locks up?
Is it during a particular process it always happens?
Do you save often before making changes?
How many other programs do you have open and running at the time?
Can you post a sample .xar that always locks Xtreme for you?

I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. I just opened up a saved .xar and copied a graphic (fairly large) from there, closed that file and pasted the copied graphic to the current page of work, tried to re size the imported graphic and the program locked.
My current work is not saved of course and I am at risk of losing hours of work.
I guess I am S.O.L.

xtreme references graphics - and you have closed down the source file - it shouldn't make a difference, but it can - wonder if clearing the clipboard would help?

Stupid question..how do you just clear the clipboard?

one way would be to copy paste something in another program that uses the windows clipboard

to be sure:

start menu >run >clipbrd

this should open the clipboard viewer and then edit>delete will clear contents

clutching at straws though really - maybe sledger will have a better idea....

Go to RUN >> type clipbrd press enter
When the ClipBook Viewer shows - go to edit and press "Delete"

I would also run some RAM (memory) diagnostics and do a scan disk as a precautionary measure.
