Default Found a font header design - I want to copy it!

I have seen a graphic font header that I would like to copy the style from (with different words...). I have attached the file, the website displaying it is here:

    http://www.leadzonline.com

Can anyone help on how to achieve this effect? I have Xara Xtreme Pro and Paint Shop Pro.

Type the words you want in black.

    Copy or clone it.

With the copy selected, open the line gallery (F12) and add a huge outline in white. Set it to Mitre Join and Square cap. Place it behind the original text (Ctrl+Shift+B).

    Copy or clone it.

With the second copy selected, change the outline to blue and make the outline slightly bigger. Place it behind the white outline (Ctrl+Shift+B).

    That should do it.

    wibbler,

It sounds as though you found much success after following Jimi's instructions. I, too, gave it a go and wound up with pleasing results. Can you post your finished derivative version? The artifacts above the 'a' and at the 'e' end of the logo were really bugging me so I took a few extra minutes and cleaned them up. Now it looks even better than the original.

I wouldn't be surprised if the original logo example you posted wasn't done with Xara Xtreme. What are the chances of the same weird spikes showing up at the exact same locations as with the first version I did. Coincidence... or something else?

    wibbler,

I couldn't help it, I just had to play around and try another one. This graphic uses Jimi's technique to produce the central Pedal2Medal graphic. After creation, the Eye Candy 4000 Chrome plug-in included with Xara Xtreme was used to create the bluish background fill, the chrome text and the button's border.

It's fun to see what you can come up with using Xara Xtreme and bit of imagination.

I like the Pedal 2 Metal logo, Harry. It would look good on a racing game box.

    Bob,

Thanks for the compliment. You're suggestion for a racing game box is spot on. I hear slot cars are starting to make a comeback. I can picture the boxes for the track and the cars on the shelf already. Coming to a toy store near you...

Wibbler, how are you doing with your graphic?

    Just checking,
    HayTay
