I like the way the seats are suspended off the floor. Makes it a lot easier to clean underneath. (Yours sincerely A. Househusband)!

I reworked this artwork for a blog called the field negro.

The site is a blog focussing on black-oriented issues and skewed heavily towards the liberal. So if any of these things offend you, don't go there.

You who know me may question the fact that I am not black. But the writing on the site is excellent and entertaining as well and I like to help out where possible. The author of the site has made me an "honorary field negro".

The term field negro, is not derrogatory but refers more to a hard working black person who is true to the cause.

The blue (a negative) photo was not my image. But I made the colors deeper and more intense. Also I cloned part of the left shoulder and appended it to the right shoulder to make the image more symetrical.

The font is VTPortableReminton and is from DaFont.com, a terrific resource for free and shareware fonts.

My black girlfriend laughed at one a asked if she could take back the work 'C**T!' and refer to herself and real hard working woman with all the layers and softness that that word actually really means. Gary, in Berlin Negro still sounds as those she'd be a slave. We'd both be offended if we both didn't have a sense of humour and were pretty open minded. I hope you take her retort in the same spirit.

You're really controversal these days Gary ... you should stick your sterogramme teapots posts.

As for the image itself. I find the font a little 90's for my taste.

Here's something I'm working on today.

Yeah I've not posted much lately but my dad died 6 weeks ago, so I've been sorting out his estate. Oh then my mum went into hospital ... I guess that sort of thing affects partners when one of them goes. BTW, don't offer sympathy I didn't really like them both, so to so would just be adding salt in the wounds - they used to merciously beat me as a child. Which is why I used to hide away in my room and draw.

Any way enjoy the start of my new art piece

    It's a work in progress ....

    Will keep you updated.

Nicely done John. Between you and Derek we seem to have a "dying flowers" theme going, and yet they are beautiful.

I am especially awed by the vase. Clear glass, to me, is very hard to draw well. When drawing, I guess you have to think backward and plan where the shape isn't.

    John,

Is the flower and vase a drawing or a photo? I would have said a photo, but with some of you talented artists and Xara's power, it's getting very hard to tell.
