    Question technique text on circle

    Hi

Look at the video and still can't seem to get this done

    What I'm doing is

    1. Draw a circle using the elipse tool

    2. Set the fill colour to none leaving the outline black

    3. go Arrange convert line to shape

    3. Select the text tool - move to the line until curser changes

    4. type my text

    5. this is where is goes wrong - tried to set the line colour to none to loose the circle

    Clearly my method is wrong

    Where???

    thanks

    Hi Ian - try this

CTRL+click the circle to select it 'inside' as shape and give no fill

You are 90% of the way there. Your drawing contains 2 connected objects, the circular shape and the text. You need to use <control>-click to select the circular line INSIDE the connected set (which is rather like a group), then use shift-click on the colour bar (in Xtreme 3.2, in X1 it's right-click) to set the line colour to nothing.

That's weird because in previous versions you can right click on the cross hatched box or select None from the drop down list without the need to Ctrl click.

    Must be a new behavior?

Instead of choosing Convert Line to Shape select Convert to Editable Shape and it will work. If you convert the line to shape then there is no line to set width to none.

Thanks one and all and especially Gary because he has proved I'm not going mad!

I has started to doubt because I was just using the cross hatch box- which I had always used before

    thanks again

I think Bob has the possible reason there - I just checked in xtreme 2.0 and you still need to use control+click if you convert line to shape rather than convert to editable shape

Did you mean Convert Line to Shape or Convert to Editable Shapes?

I suspect you meant Editable Shapes.

    Hi Gary

I suspect as usual I got myself confused. Yes I did mean editable shapes.:-)

Trying to create a web site graphic and the client has specifc graphics for which he of course has no masters. Hence I'm expanding my knowledge by creating them from scratch using extreme.

Because I'm a coder I as usual left the graphics till last - silly me

    Thanks for all the help

    cheers

that'll explain it - cos the line in your file has been converted to shape not editable shape - only have to remove the text from the curve to see that
