tested here at work and can't replicate any of that behavior... will try at home on Vista Ultimate... XP SP2 here.

It's a bit weird that some can and some can't reproduce this. Maybe I haven't explained the steps thouroughly enough. I'll re-word the steps a little and add a pic for clarity. This is not to belittle anyone, but I just wanna make sure that the message on how to reproduce this error comes over correctly.
1) Write a text and select all of it using the text tool or CTRL+A
2) Now without doing anything else, click on the selector tool
- You should see the select handles and also some dotted border around the text (this is because the characters were selected before switching over to selector tool). See the image below (attachment): this is how the text looks before deletion - after step #2.
3) Now press delete.
I'm now left with what Steve (handrawn) has posted -->

Confirmed. WinXP SP2.
Confirmed with both just typing and using a text column. After the delete stage the status bar says 'one text line' or 'one text column' depending on what method you use. If you used a text column, you can type more text!

I'm still using version 3.02 and it does the same thing.
