textures vanish

After I use a texture like black/white fills or stone textures the file vanishes from the fills window menu. Have to re-load, and the entire window menu of texture fill appears, now with double set of textures.
Also why does art flicker so bad when moved around on the desktop? have the new nvidia driver.

Not a clue about the first thing but the second sounds like a moire (pronounced more-ae) pattern that is happening when the one pattern is dragged over the second. Moire patterns occur when one pattern, such as a window screen is placed over another pattern and sometimes angled.

Or as the Italian's sing, That's a Moire.

This is why halftone screens in 4-color printing are angled, to avoid these moire patterns.
