    Default Slicing an image

Hello everyone, hope the weekend is going good.

Im having a bit of trouble.I have made a page in Xara Pro and i want to slice the image so i can use it on the main page of a website..
But when i slice it and put it in the webpage the image has space between each image,so it leaves a space.

Anyone know what im doing wrong? I'm slicing it in xara but mess it up everytime..Am i missing a setting or somthing?

Here is a sample image of what im doing

How are you putting the sliced images together on the web page?

If you are using a table are you setting the border to 0?

Also, why are you slicing the image?

In the past slicing was used to get an image to load faster by loading lots of smaller pieces of the image.

I'm not sure this is a problem today anymore than the need for web-safe colors. Unless your audience is using old slower computers.

Also, you need to make sure that your slices are in even pixel amounts. If not the slices will have a light outline.

I like to create even pixel rectangles and place the rectangles over the graphic and then export using the rectangles which can be below the graphic to define my slices. Actually the banners on all the Xara Xone pages are in 3 pieces but for a slightly different reason. I have linked text for the pages which drops in between.

Yes i have them in a table set to "o"

The reason why im slicing is because of large image loading... Is that to much in the past and ishouldnt worry about it?

My Slices do have a light outline...

If behind the image my boxes over lap, could that be the problem??

Your GIF file posted is 56K which is not large.

But I was able to save your image using 256 Color Color Depth but with the number of colors reduced to 32. My file is 40K.

So it might be a good idea when you export your GIF image to try out different color numbers and see how small you can get your image without sacrificing image quality.

The slices overlapping should not be a problem as long as the exported image is in even pixel amounts.

Also, if you are using a rectangle to slice your image, make sure it has an outline of less than .5pix.

    Or better still, no outline.

I use a narrow outline so I can easily add or delete outline color in normal view ... I find it easier if I need to adjust/modify my slicing options.
