I have finished working on the graphic and will go and see about getting a poster printed today. Not much has changed since the last post, but if you notice on the earring, I did borrow a little sparkle as used in the post Temptress! by, MarkMyWords. I liked how it looked and how simple it was and thought it was a nice little touch!
I also like the transparency effect on the lenses.

Now just hope all the subtle details come through. That is the hardest part with print... You never know when the gamut is gonna bite you.![]()
Great work Bob!
Hate to be a dog around that gang!![]()
Well, I got my poster and I'm very happy with the results.
The thing is, the colours in this digital photo don't match how it is in real life. Most noticeably is the small cat and the girls jacket. In the digital photo they show up very pale, where as they are actually closer to the inserted images to the photo.
The other colours are pretty vibrant. Orange is a bit more orange. But these things are only noticable when compairing them to a graphic on a monitor. On it's own it's still very good and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. It's a very crisp print. And my signature is on the bottom right. It's visible, but doesn't distract.
For resolution, minimum resolution was 2400 x 3600 pixels - recommended 3600 x 5400 pixels. I uploaded 7500 x 11250 pixels.
The frame I bought separate.
Now, the other walls....!

Looks good to me Bob... but the gamut did naw on you a bit. Oh well... It is still a very good poster.
Bob,
The poster looks great and I bet it looks even more impressive in its full size hanging on your wall. Nice job!
In the process, were you able to get any information from the printer on how to get a better color match in the future? I know it wasn't real important in this case, but if you had a client and they expected one thing and got another there may me a problem.
I know we have quite a few print gurus here at talkgraphics. Maybe one of them can give some suggestions. I have also sent images created in xara to digital printers and have had similar color matching issues.
Bob,
Great job on the illustration!
If you want to print something smaller than poster size - the size of a photo print "enlargement" done in-house - try an above average photo lab.
The high-end fuji machines take 300 dpi files and output them with the same process as a photo is printed.
The colour range is great. The gamma is a bit different - your monitor is probably around 2.2 and the photolab will probably be around 1.8 - ask them to adjust to your PC screen gamma before printing so the image doesn't get darker. Simple test - print a 4 by 6 first to proof it.
The cost is the same as having a regular photo printed or enlarged.

The poster looks great Bob!
