This is a drawing of a photo I took of a pidgeon, in Scotland they are are called Cushie Doos don't ask me why. I had to pinch just a few of the feathers as I could not get the effect I was after.

Nice one. The colors look a little faded compared to the wing though. Love the name.
Norman,
Very good likeness and excellent job on the feet.
ron
on the whole, not bad, not entirely convincing.
the wing and back feathers, though, are just plain good. very good. some of the best i have seen. would admire a discussion on method.

Damned by faint praise LOL. Geo, I am not a trained artist having only taken up drawing in the last few years without Xara I'd be nowhere. I have attached the .xar drawing for you to dissect to see my methods. I have removed the wing part as it was about 10 megs in size. Some of it is tracing over the original photo, other bits freehand. Like the parson's nose only good in parts.
And thanks to Ron and Dal.

sorry.... wasn't meant to be ungenerous.
i am really impressed with the texture of the feathers. such a comment means little in an environment where everything is 'really good'. some stuff is not. much of mine is not.
sorry if i offended.
geo.
and thanks for the file.
geo.
Absolutely no offence taken Geo. I am sorry if I gave that impression.

I’ve seen your photograph as well. Skilful mixture of pixel/vector IMO.
