Well you would normally use a transparency for that effect, but if you need both, you can apply a transparency over a fill gradient.
I tried applying the transparency to the center of my fill and it didn't do anything. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong.
Jen
Apply a Circular transparency.
BUT Reverse the two settings. Make the Transparency slider setting (on the Infobar at the top of the page) for the inside 100% (totally transparent) and the outside slider setting 0% (no transparency). This will make the center transparent and the outside opaque.

Hi,
When applying transparency there's also the start and end transparency
Click on handle in the middle apply 100% transparency
click on handle at the edge(arrowpoint)apply 0% transparency
now center must be seethrough edges not
Hope it helps,Hans
Thanks so much,
I was able to get the effect I was looking for by changing the middle handle to transparent.
Gary, I still don't get how to reverse the properties on the tool bar, but thanks for answering.
Jen
It sounds like you may have done it. You select the inside or outside square, then change the value on the Transparency slider.

OK, thanks Gary, that's what I did.
Thanks for all your help.
