Error when downloading templates from Xara

I have recently purchased the Template packs 1-5 and now when I attempt to click on one of the new logos I get an error message like the one below...
"Webstyle has encountered an error while communicating with the server...Unexpected error (0x80040155)Please make sure you are connected tot he internet"

I have checked my firewall, turned it off...no change
My internet connection is fine.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

Hi Jon,

I encountered that error at least once before.

I opened my web browser to Xara.com then opened Webstyle and clicked on the Update button. That seemed to allow the connection without error and the templates were downloaded and installed.

If that does not correct the problem try rebooting your computer and do not open any other applications. Open Webstyle and click the update button.

Hello, I am new to this forum.

I am desperate as I have been trying to get a response from Xara on this same issue that Jon had above with no luck for over a month now. I believe that I have tried all the trouble shooting and test that are offered on xara.com. I also did the same things as Jon, even uninstalled my virus/firewall softwars. Also tried uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting. I also have the same problem and error codes with all xara programs.

Anyone have an advice? I'd really appreciate it!

Have either of you tried the following steps posted by BB2?

Select start followed by run and type regedit
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Xara\Webstyle 4\Startup
Right click on the registry entry named Template version and select modify. Set the value data to 0 (zero) and click okay
Restart Webstyle. Click on 4 logo in the the left corner of the title bar, to display the system menu and select 'Don’t connect Automatically'
Click on the Update button in Webstyle

Enter your Xara account email address and password and select to Sign in, which should cause the download and installation of the templates. ** ensure you connect to the account used to purchase webstyle 4 and the template packs.

Yes I tried that with no success... I don't know what was wrong with the whole thing.

I broke down and reformatted my computer and installed the Xara Products before anything else. So far the programs seem to be working fine now with no error codes yet.

Wow, a reformat sounds very drastic (I had to rebuild one of my computers yesterday after a hard drive crash, ouch). Although I have had to do the same.

I hope everything is working well on your newly reformatted drive.

I Also am conected to the internet,and have tryed everything incl. the sugestions here at this site. HELPPPP

What can I do?

Same problem!
When I go to my account it shows my purchase.
What happend to support? 1 week and no answer, just an automated reply.
If they cant fix the problem they could at least refund my money.

Hi! My account also shows my purchase of Webstyle, however, the download will only allow me the trial version and attempts to sell me webstyle again when I click on the unlock button. There is no place to enter your email address and password or serial number. This is very frustrating, especially since Xara never sent me the CD I paid for (or the 3D CD either). They said if I want another one to be sent out I'll have to pay them $15.00 each. As far as downloading the templates, I get the same putoff message everyone else gets about not connecting to their server...Blah...Blah...Blah.....................
