The answer Norman is: a combination of techniques - The first was a Photoshop montage made up from 5 images which I entered for a challenge on another forum - This version has post treatment in Painter using impressionist and van gogh brushes and a little but of cloning too.

Ths second image is 100% photoshop - I guess a more detailed explanation can be found for both in my gallery at : http://zooreka.deviantart.com/

The second image is about 50% painted 30% montage and 20% brushes and texturing
