Default Background, Xara Xtreme and Xara 3D

    http://farm1.static.flickr.com/166/3...43436492_m.jpg

How do I take this picture, cut it out in Photoshop (which I already did, transparent background) and bring it in Xara 3D?
It keeps comming in as a block / square. Pasting.
If I go thru Xara Xtreme then copy and paste in 3D still same or I get a error of 'Cannot import file / File does not contain any outlines'.

What kind of crap is this all I want to do is cut the back out (so easy in Photoshop) then 3D and animate it in Xara 3D.

    Any ideas or help...

    Thanks you!
    Mike

That is a bitmap/raster image. It is made up of pixels.
There are no drawn LINES around bugs.

You will need to draw his outline and send the outline to 3d6.

3d6 can make letters and drawings, and even font characters (ex: windings) 3d. But an image like the one you show is flat and must be DRAWN to have the individual lines to create a 3d effect in 3d6.

In Xara Xtreme, you use the Shape Editor tool and trace around the parts of the image you wish to keep. I did this below. I would have used a plug in from Mehdi to get rid of the white, but this was a jpeg and it has artifacts in it preventing me doing a clean (remove color - white in this case.)

What you end up with after you trace outline is a black image seen on the left.

    Select both items and
    type Control 4 (Arrange>Combine Shapes>Slice(cut)Shapes

Before you slice the shape though, type Control K and use that black image to copy. You will paste that copy into Xara3D as your base.

Once you slice the image out in Xara Extreme, you can use this as your texture.

I put a red letter on the bugs image as we wouldn't want anyone stealing your handy work.

Thanks, but apparently I'm getting something wrong.

I'm quessing it the Texture part.

I tried saving after slice as a jpg, bmp etc then opening thru 3D texture. But to no avail. I'm stumped and stupid.

    Thanks Mike

You can resize it when you export it or you can just drag the box ends while in 3D, the same method you would use dragging a browser down to size by moving the edges or corners.

Or you can go to the menu: Window>Frame Size and enter the size in pixels there.

Moved the thread to the Xara3D forum where it fits in better.

    Hi Mike,

When you export your image you can select Transparent from the options.

It is best to turn off Shadows and to have the background the same as the one the image will be used with.

How this? Does anyone know how to...

    A) Add text rotating around it?

    B) Make it 4 sides, instead of 2? So there 4 Bugs Bunny instead of 2.

Thank You ALL for your help and input!

    Mike
