Default moving some of my Painter 9.5 BRUSHES to Painter X

    Hello Folks,

What is the best way to move some of my Painter 8 and Painter 9.5 BRUSHES to Painter X?

I am on a Mac under MacOSX 10.4.8

    Thanks!

Just copy and paste the relevant files - most should work with no bother.

    Thanks Christine.

I am familiar with the old way of doing this by copying the brush library into the
Corel Painter IX > Brushes folder.

I just got Painter X and I was under the impression that there was a more automatic way to do this with Workspaces in Painter X. I will play with Workspaces and experiment to get a feel for it.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

I've answered your question in a couple of other forums but now that you've mentioned Workspaces and said you're going to play with them, I'll explain what you'll need to do using the other method.

You can either follow the suggestion I offered in the other forums, or you can place your brush library folders in whatever Workspace folder you want.

This is not an automatic way of handling brush libraries, brush categories, and brush variants, or other libraries but it does provide a way to customize our workspace for various kinds of projects. It also allows us to share our Exported Workspaces with other Painter X users, even across platforms.

With Painter X closed, copy the brush library you want to add, then paste it into the following Corel Painter IX User folder:

    Mac - Users > [User Name] > Library > Application Support > Corel/Painter X > [Workspace Name] > Brushes

    Windows - Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Corel\Painter IX > [Workspace Name] > Brushes

I'll be offering a more expanded tutorial on this and related subjects at PixelAlley in the near future, as soon as I have the time to get the info together and formatted, either in HTML or PDF format.

The URL is below my signature.

    Happy Workspace-ing!
