    Default dead dog

Sketch of a dog skull from life. (If that isn't an oxymoron I don't know what is).
    Filled version to follow.

Derek the detail and texture look 'real'. Is this part of a larger image you are working on?

Bill is no longer with us. He died on 10 Dec 2012. We remember him always.

If you mean am I working on the entire dog then no. I have the dog skull to look at which is why I began to draw it, we didn't find the rest of it. The skull just surfaced in the garden a few years back.
I like to draw stuff I can hold rather than from photographs so this was just an excercise not part of anything larger.

Thanks for the info Derek. Having the object of a drawing to hand is easier than using a photo.

I was wondering if the skull would appear in one of your future drawings as an object other than the main focus. Props can lend a lot to the realism or mood of a drawing.

Are you working on a piece to show anatomy? Could use it in a text book, perfectly rendered an obviously anatomically correct.
Every day's a new day, "draw" on what you've learned.

No, just an excercise in observational drawing of something thats a bit more interesting than an apple and a banana.

    Derek,
Don't forget to show us your progress, or at least the finished work!
I drew a T-Rex skull once a long time ago. Was very interesting. Wish I could find it.
