I'll point you to the pro for tutorials Gary Priester and his XaraXone. Workbook 51 on page 5 shows how to make the 'aqua' or 'gel' button in Xara X, X¹, Xtreme, or Xtreme Pro
http://www.xaraxone.com/webxealot/workbook51/page_5.htm
In the thread http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...ght=gel+button in post #8 Egg Bramhill attached a Xara .xar file with another tutorial for making those type of buttons.

Just reviewing this old thread and thought I would post the one I am now using. Usually I just use a blank screen but recently combined a photo of the St. Lawrence and a clip art to finally give me a real desktop. It looks a bit better on the old computer but I have resized and changed to a gif to keep the size down. Why you ask? Well, I'm still running under win98, have 191 mb ram, use 800 x 600 screen resolution and have a 7 gig hard drive which always says take it easy please, so I am in the habit of keeping things small and light. Since the old machine still does all I want and all it needs, I see no reason to replace it at this point of time. Got me into the forum, right?......what else could you ask for!
putt, putt phrank
Here is mine... Minimal on Desktop, but do use office toolbar for most common apps. I also do use windoze explorer quite a bit...
This is my Linux desktop. I like the clean look.
My Desktop! Had to drop the resolution. The car is a Tesla - 100% electric - 130 mph - 0-60 mph in <4.0 sec. Check out www.teslamotors.com
