I look at some projects as "this is out of my skill level", and don't grow because of it. Need to challenge myself, like on this one. It takes time to figure it out, that is all. The next time, that technique is easier to do and can be applied to any other project.
Once I discovered how to do it, it was a tremendous boost of joy that I found the answer.
I guess that is why Xara is addictive to me, I've gotten hooked on those endorphins.
Heck, at least it is a healthy way to be, and despite if I work long hours, don't feel nearly as tired finding that I am happy with what I accomplished.

Every day's a new day, "draw" on what you've learned.

Really like this piece of art. Be happy with yourself, because this is one of the best I've seen on this forum. Great inspiration.

Very inspiring image, I'll have to try that technique.
I assume that the 2nd image is the 'great picture' that helped. In places you have improved on the photo. Amazing what you can with vector shapes.
Sally.
When I made this comment, I was quite unaware that one of the pictures was actually a photograph of a parrot! I thought that you had created both pictures in Xara.Which of the two pictures do you like best? I have to admit that I prefer the sharper version.
An even greater testament to the superb realism of your art.
