Error Message installing AlienSkin in Pro

I just got the upgrade for Xtreme to Xtreme Pro. When I tried to install my plugins (Eyecandy and Xenofex2) I get an error notifying me that " You need Xara Xtreme to install this plugin" Is there a work around or do I have to re-install Xtreme standard? I dont want to junk 118 bucks plus the cost of the upgrade.

Hi Shadowpdx,

I don't recall anyone posting about having that problem. I didn't experience it, but I still have Xara Xtreme and the two previous versions installed.

Rich, screen name Malucca probably has the most experience with plugins. He may be able to provide some help when he checks the forums later today.

Maybe that is the difference - I uninstalled Xtreme standard - did not see any reason to have both...........

It should not require both. I keep the older versions so I can test things for members that only have an older version.

I haven't seen Rich post today and I haven't seen any Xara employees post since very early this morning UTC (GMT) time. We may have to wait for an answer.

Bill,

I don't normally install plugins within the application folder. I did notice left over registry entries from the other versions. I don't know if this would affect the installation.

I installed the Snap Art trial without a problem external to the application.

Thanks Rich. I usually install plugins into a folder to themselves. Then I point Xtreme, Xtreme Pro, Photoshop, etc to that folder.

When I installed Xtreme Pro it found the folder automatically, but that may have been because Xtreme was already using that folder.

Support had me re-download and re-install the AlienSkin plug ins. Evidently there was a problem - Thanks to everyone.............I am one happy camper again!

thanks for that, when I posted the same problem with AlienSkin a couple of weeks back the only response I got was " I had opened my mouth and comfirmed my stupidity"

will download again
