mainpage redesign

my partner and i are doing away with our splash page and the flash and non-flash entries at Bannerz~R~Us and going to a single mainpage.
we are testing and tweaking 2 different pages, with the same design, but the colors and textures are far different. we like the design, but believe the first test page may be too commercial looking for a graphics site, and sort of dull, and the second one may be too dark and not professional looking.
opinions please on which test page we should work from and continue to tweak, and opinions on which colors and textures we should use.

The first one is way better. One HUGE biggie is it is easier to read, blue on purple is definately not easy to read. Plus you have several different colors of text Why??

I think test2.html looks much better. Fits the site much better.
