    Hi,

Is there a way to save my image to a transparent background? I want to put my anamated image on a stripe background on a webpage, and when I use the background Texture of the stripe, it doesn't match up on the webpage, and can't use the white, because it shows up white on the stripe background. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

I couldn't see anything about using transparent.

Thanks a bunch for any help you can give me.

    Lorraine,
Have you tried exporting your animated gif with the transparency option?

Hi knightedduke, thanks for your reply,

I can't find where it has exporting animated gif with transparency http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

When I click on 'Export Animation' it just brings up my hard drive, where I can find a background.

I't probable there someplace, but I just don't where to look. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

    I have Xara3D5

Once you've decided on where in your harddrive to save the animated gif you should get a window as screen grab below.

I would still use your background in Xara3D to set your animation off but just tick the transparent button.

Thank you so much knightedduke, and Egg http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Egg, thanks a lot for the image, I have seen that so many times, and still didn't see 'Transparent'. I guess I just go too fast, and don't take the time to look around, that's a very, very bad habit I have, and hope one day to get rid of it, well most of it anyway. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    Thanks again, to you both.

the Avi format does not support transparency. You will just have to match the colors better. Video is not easy... Almost has tough as print work.

Have you heard of Blue/green Screen? That is what is used in video for transparency. Set your background color to a color that is not use in the drawing. If you use blue as one of the lights, do not use blue for a background color. because your video editing software will knock out every blue pixel.

PS... shadows do not work very well at all, do not waste time trying to play with them.

    Heesa...

I'm afraid you need to pay up. Then it goes.

Have a good browse at the examples here, and play with the demo; you will find it easy to use, particularly if you need static images for web and print.

Where it cannot match, for example, Flash, is in animation file size. But then Flash can't do the 3D tricks.

And if you have a question - just ask here.
