Thanks in advance

Thats a rather broad subject.
A good starting place is to look at and analyze the surface you want to emulate. Then reproduce the surface graphically with your software.I really not sure how to start
Hint: add noise helps alot. Fractals and noise are key ingredients for organic texture creation.
There are dozens of ways to create textures. Step 1 of this tutorial is just one of them: http://www.lunacore.com/photoshop/tutorials/tut028.htm
Also have a look at this one: http://www.lunacore.com/photoshop/tutorials/tut024.htm
Best textures are made with brushes though, sometimes in combination with effects.
Thanks for the help.
I have been toying with the filter options and that helps a great deal. I appreaciate the references and find them most useful and thought it deserved a thank you.
Any more information to help my learning curve will be gratefully received.
