DONMAC is onto the right idea. I think his suggestion is great. Someone said avoid using the Bolshevik theme but use the Bolshevik style. If you do that, avoid using the so-called "socialist realism" style and instead be inspired by the early pre-Stalin styles.

I was just thinking about the Russian wooden dolls which opens and another smaller doll appears inside and so on.
I think they are a good symbol for Russia and fun to create.

Hello artoony welcome to the forum. Yes I was thinking of suggesting that myself and then I looked up the dictionary to see what the russian name for them, I think they are called "matryoshka" or Valery's spelling "matrioshka" and as Valery states in his first posting that is one of the things he did not want. keep tryin tho' you never know.

Valery -- I'm probably a little late contributing to this but I just had an idea...

I'm thinking about the way gymnasts pose at the end of a successful routine. You know how they have their arms out and beam with pride on a job well-done. I can imagine your image being a cropped shot of a pretty gymnast posing like that with her arms outstretched, chin up, and a confident smile. She could be wearing a Russian gymnastics outfit that instantly would be recognizable as 'Russian'. Outside of Russia, the success of Russian athletes is well known and greatly admired so I think such an image would be positively received. The image would 'speak' Russian success, energy, performance, skill, hard work, and pride of accomplishment.

    What do you think?

    Regards, Ross

Very good idea Ross. I like it. But I think it is too late. I am so sad.
