Yep. This is exactly the problem. Copy and paste means the bitmap gets stored uncompressed. Importing the JPEG makes it compressed. Xtreme should have an option to make a pre-existing bitmap into a JPEG. Right now you have to save it out and reimport it.

I think, there are more important things to do - for example SVG import/export and PDF import and a up-to-date AI import/export and the story with CMYK and some new vector drawing tools and ...

btw: The pasted image isn't imported completely uncompressed, but converted into the PNG format - otherwise the XAR file would be 2.320 Kb instead of 800 Kb.
