Is it possible to create a custom pattern and save it in the pattern library? If so, how?

    Thank you.

try using the freeform marquee to isolate any piece of the canvas that you'd like to become a pattern. Go to the pattern palette menue and select "define pattern".

you can now use the masked pattern pen to paint with it.

This is only one of many ways to use patterns.

The Kaleidescope dynamic layer is a much overlooked part of painter. Great for making kaleidescope tiling patterns.

    Hi,

In the Painter 7 User Guide, read Chapter 5 Applying Art Materials, the section named "Using Patterns".

In other versions, look in the Index for similar terms.

    Have fun!

P.S. Yes, the Kaleidoscope plugin is great for making seamless tiles, and generally having a great time.
