Sorry to hear about your camera. I am getting more expirence on settings. I was trying total manual to improve the depth of field. I have to be fairly close with the shield on the flash. It keeps me from getting strong highlights, though. I have had problems with light butterflies on a dark background. The butterfly always gets blownout. Same with dragonflies. Learning to read the ituation helps.
