Exclamation Bug found + reproduction steps

I've been using Xara for about 7 years now and I love the product.
Recently I discovered how to reproduce an error that I received a few times.

    Okay here's the deal:

I used XaraXtreme CD version 2.0f

    1. Create a new canvas.
    2. Have the layers gallery showing (docked or undocked)
    3. Create an object (any object).
    4. Display the rulers (CTRL+L).
    5. Create a few Guides.
    6. Drag the object with until you touch the scrollbar (meaning the cursor is OVER the scrollbar, as if you are dragging the object ONTO the scrollbar).
    7. Let go of the the mousebutton while your cursor is on the scrollbar.

You will get an access violation with only the option to quit

This works with using the left mousebutton (drag) or when using the right mousebutton (clone)

I installed the latest patch and this bug is in there.

Hope you guys can fix this, as it happened to me a few times when I hadn't saved .

I can confirm, if confirmation is needed, that this happens.

Is there another version you use of xaraxtreme?
I use the Windows version from the CD with patch 2.0f.
I can easily reproduce this everytime I try it.

I just had a quick try to reproduce this crash but couldn't following those steps. Vincis, could you save a XAR file at the point just before you drag the object to crash it? Then see if you can reproduce the crash just by loading the XAR file and dragging the object. If so, attach the XAR file to a post in this thread and say which object to drag onto which scroll bar.

That should help eliminate any differences between what you're doing and what I'm doing. I don't think it will make any difference which version of Xtreme you have - but I'm using 2.0f.

    Thanks

I used to get that crash when using X1... I did it a few times, but could never quite work out the exact set of requirements. But it was definitely when I dragged something out of canvas area.
I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.

Here is the Xar file and a screenshot of the error. I dragged the object "onto" the scrollbar and when the cursor (holding the object) is on the scrollbar I reelease the mousebutton. There must be some guides and they must be visible for this bug to occur. You don't actually need to drag outside the canvas (white area).

My OS is WindowsXP Home with all the updates that are available from MS installed.

I've seen similar errors but couldn't reproduce this one in 2.0e. Upgraded to 2.0f but still could not recreate it.

I too can't re-recreate it from that file... yet as I said above have had this problem. There must be some other factor that we're missing.

Incidentally I found something else... when I drag on to the scrollbar, then press ctrl-z to put it back in its original location, the box disappears (it's there, just not visible). But only if I drag it on to the scrollbar first. Can anyone else recreate this?

I just recreated it... I remembered it has something to do with layers. I created a new layer, drew a square on that, dragged it and it crashed.

However a colleague says this has already been reported. I'll check on the bug report to ensure it contains all the relevant info.
I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.
