Gave that "chrome effect" a look see and it took a bit of time and trial and error, to figure out how to use it...but it indeed works....I will need a bit of time to figure out all the rest of the suggestions you guys gave me...but....we are are the road now.

Still think some sort of "fill" option that follows the outline of an object, would be a good addition to this program though, and being able to adjust the colors of a bevel would also be nice......but in the meantime....I think I'm ready to get my project a bit further along...Thanks all of you!

This was my experiment with the plug in.....my daughter's name, for her Desktop

You can adjust the color of the bevel. Just click on the object's bevel to change it or use a gradient on it. Works fine

    Piperboy,
Does this come close? If either of these work for you I'll post how I did it. The left picture is the plugin and the right is done with shading and clipview. Both can have further adjustments depending on your preferences.

Thanks for the two good tips...tried the bevel thing, and it works, naturally. As the the offer of explaining how to do the exhaust with shading and clipview...would gladly take you up on it...but don't go to too much trouble....as all of us...I am hoping the book will arrive soon. THe "shading" is where I get unsure.....a clipview is somewhere in the movies...Thanks! Piperboy

Arrow Re: fill that follows shape outline

    Once you have your outline

    1. dupe it & nudge
1b. dupe again & nudge (so your have two outlines)
    2. remove the fill & convert the line to curve (alt R+L)
    3. on the original shape - remove the outline
    4. nudge the copy back on top
    5. select both & subtract shape
    6. now move your original outlined object back over the original

Now the outline will meet the edge of the fill area. Then you can do whatever technique you want for the fill.

had good luck with Dukes file....made a few changes and figured it out....but the method offered my MM was a trick...took me a while to figure out what he did and what it offered. Did finally figure it out, but it's darned tricky....and not so sure how I can use it....but it did work, indeed. Thanks...all of you. Will be out of the net for a couple of weeks now...so it might take me a while to answer...best to all, from Schnitzelland.
