    Default Infinity symbol question ?

    Hi everyone,

I'm sure this one is a snap for someone of basic Xara skills.

I've drawn a sort of Infinity symbol ( lemniscate - latin for ribbon ) but with more areas ( not just two )... ( I used the Freehand and brush tools )

Now if I change the color, it changes the color of all the areas...

How do I color each area with a different color.

( and I'm even spelling colour wrong to please some folk )

    cheers, Dave Porter

Hi, Dave. I may not have exactly what you want, but perhaps
    it will help.

In the picture below I used the Ellipse tool instead of the Freehand
one, and then applied the Fill tool with the Four color option. That
way, 4 distinct colors can be assigned and "moved about" on the
    grouped object. (see xar file)

You could also adjust the transparency and feathering to get a
    different result.

If this isn't what you're after, I'm sure someone else will jump in
    to help.

In the meanwhile, how about posting a pic and xar file of what
    you're doing ?

    All the best to you.

    Hi Ken,

Thanks for your help, but I think your feedback is far more compilcated than what I need.

The shape below ( exported gif ) shows that all the enclosed areas are the same color, but I want to select a different color for each area ?

Not sure how to do it ?

    cheers, Dave

Look in the XaraXone under tip2 and scroll down to Big Franks mini tut on creating shapes from lines. He uses squares, but you can also use your two overlapping lines as above. One note, I find it only works in XaraX1 NOT Xtreme. Is this a bug?....
Following his instructions in XaraX1 works perfectly, but in Xtreme when you add the shapes, you no longer have the ability to break them.

    NOTE:
just found that in Xtreme, before you try to break them, hit escape (or click off the group), re-select, ungroup them, then you can break the shapes. It's an extra step or two over his tutorial, but it now works.

The way I got it workng in Xtreme was:
    1. Draw the figure
    2. Group
    3. Convert Line to Shape
    4. Break Shapes
    5. Delete top figure
