    Cool

Yes, this has been true for many positions I have held and is really a rather encouraging realization. thank you
By the time I am finished with my training, about one more year, I should have a B.A. in Art Studio, semester internship in graphic design and some other art internships, be "certified" as a computer art specialist from an in class program,( or something very similar), and hopefully some graphic design work experience and a solid portfolio. What am I missing? I would prefer working in Ca, in the bay or San Diego or L.A., so maybe I can count on landing..........eh maybe 40 to 50 grand a year or less or more...?

    Ummm... tuyodavis,

You just might afford the house payment with your wage goals. Before your settle on a wage... check out the local pricings. Not everything is as rosy as it seems in CA....

Cool Re: What is this forum for? What are the rules?

So do I change my career plans based on current housing costs in ca.........no I don't think so....... well maybe art careers are not smart careers...what the hell was I thinking, but then again some people do make enough $ from following their passion and their happy too. I just wanted to know if the educational background sounds sufficient, assuming there are working professionals in the forum, (not that you aren't Mr. Rayner, but ca wins hands down for my tastes).

I never said you could not do, nr that your training was insuficient. The costs, partically the housing costs can get pretty steep in parts of CA. Check it out before you jump in and make lots of money only to be living out of your car...

Talking Re: What is this forum for? What are the rules?

I looked at some houseing prices, housing payments of about $8,000.00 a month or more.....so I would need to make about $108,000.00 yearly. Assumeing there is no second income, which is safe to assume, so I can forget children, ha ha.
Didn't mean to sound rude, thanks for the insight.

Money is a relative thing... What is a hole bunch of moola in your neck of the woods, might not buy a pot to go in at other locations.

Irma Bombeck, coined a phrase many years ago... The grass is always greener over the septic tank...

so watch what kinda stuff you are stepping into.
